USF1. They didn’t even race build a car

They no doubt would be quick - but the straights are a bit long for their power levels to really take king of the hill. Same deal with a shifter kart - probably would be top 10, but not in the game for #1

F1 cars of that era probably have ~300# on each front tire. It would certainly be uncomfortable, but it probably wouldn't do any damage.

Watching videos like this makes me wonder - what plane is the most maneuverable at sub-sonic speeds, ever made? I know modern fighter planes do sacrifice some sub-sonic maneuverability for improved super-sonic control and stability - would an old WW2-era fighter plane like this be able to do more impressive maneuvers

Maybe I just wasn’t a seat connoisseur, but I never had an issue with them in our 92 Grand Caravan.

The IRL used to have a regular appearance every summer, and it was a great show. I’ve heard dozens of rumors on why they stopped coming, but they never did draw huge crowds.

I do this all the time in my Fiat

This is largely satisfying the market these days - especially since there are a lot of CLEAN 10 year old, 100k+ mile excursions out there. Ok, maybe not a lot, but there are enough that you can find 1 or 2 good examples in any area code.

The trouble is, that even the newest ones are 10 years old, with 10 year old

Was discomfort the only thing that led to their demise? We had them in our van when I was a kid/teenager, and thought they were pretty slick, and now that I have kids of my own, I thought they would be useful.

I always wondered if it was due to legal reasons that they went away. Do they meet the legal requirement to

If anything, many cops are probably subtly happy when that happens - it means they’re gonna get a new(er) cruiser.

I too only got one question wrong on my written test (also in NYS for what it’s worth) - I forget the exact wording, but essentially the question asked what the maximum BAC I was allowed to have and still drive. My answer was “0.0”, but the clerk scored me incorrectly for not choosing “0.8”. The problem is that I was

lol, BTDT - although you also forgot the plastic sunroof gears that inevitably lead to the self-rising sunroof at highway speeds (and all the little microswitches you get to tweak by bending slightly when installing new gears).

And that’s not even getting into the clutch change that makes splitting an old Ford 3000

Are you implying that due to the high scrap value of aluminum (versus typical steel body panels), that the pick-n-pull’s (or the first customer who gets there) will just scrap them for melt value, versus selling complete?

If so, consider this: If there were a shortage of F150 aluminum body panels, the market value of

That’s a brave purchase. If I saw a 951 with a “failed water pump”, I’d assume it also needs new pistons and valves due to an almost inevitable timing belt failure.

I’ll agree with what you said - but it still has nothing to do with “because fiberglass”. I’m sure the owner was just misinformed/misremembering/confused - but the real reason for the complete respray was because it’s a one-piece (fiberglass) body, not because it’s a fiberglass body.

Interesting, I was always under the impression the SportTrac was just a “quad cab” Ford Ranger. After reading your comment I read up on it, and apparently it was actually based on an Explorer (as it’s name indicates) - which to be fair was in turn based in part on the Ranger.

I was also surprised by what you said that

Looking at this list, how on earth did GM survive the 90’s? Almost every one of their volume sales cars made this list...

They also won’t rent trailers to the “Explorer SportTrac” for the same reason, even though it’s a completely different vehicle - just because it has the word “Explorer” in the name.

Ok, maybe one number... 88mph.
