I am so sorry. I haven’t talked to my family in any meaningful way since the summer of 2016. It’s one thing to have different opinions, it’s another to have a close family member constantly bait and push you. It’s like they can’t stand to not have their opinions mirrored back at them.

Agreed. I was able to put the bulb in backward on my VW. It illuminated the brake light filament instead of the running light 

Someone probably crammed the bulb in backwards. I’ve seen this from time to time too. 

I see this a lot here in the UK, and it’s NOT the rear fog light as others have suggested.
The rear fog light is always a separate bulb to the running/brake light, so you can spot them easily. Also, although it’s not a requirement, a lot of cars have a rear fog on both sides instead of just one.
