On the whole I don’t think Hawaiian has longer legs, the vast majority of their flights are inter-island. Also flying pets to Hawaii is more regulated than between mainland states. I’d wager their rates are negatively impacted by heat related deaths on pets going between islands.

I don’t know much (really anything) about jet maintenance but wouldn’t a 15 yo plane have been through some overhauls in that time? In an electric plane part of an overhaul would probably be battery replacement.

Solar panel efficiency isn’t currently enough to make the gain in range worth the added cost/complexity.

AFAIK Lyft also pays their drivers a bit better so there’s less animosity.
