Which album, Visions? Grimes has kind of had an interesting progression in that she was teaching herself how to do basically everything on the fly (including the production, there was no ‘team’ assembling it for her). The first few projects are pretty lo-fi and rough (which I like because it kind of blends

that the violence that comes to Jen is even more violent because it’s coming from familiar people in her life.

It’s all good! Very close with our friends and family. It made me realize that visiting a new mom right after birth is more involved than I had been led to believe, and visits later on are more welcome than people often realize. Moms need support even after the novelty wears off.

I was super worried that guys wouldn’t come to weigh in on what happened to their partner and extrapolate for everyone who has ever had a child but then the comments loaded!

Yeah—mine did sleep a lot, but mostly when being held/nursed/carried by me.

Right? They sleep 16-18 hours but sometimes only 45 minutes at a time. Being woken up 6-8 times a night is hell on earth. Especially when you have nursing issues (as so many women do) and your body is recovering from childbirth or the major surgery of a c-section. And those poor mothers whose kids have colic. Jesus

Your experience isn’t anyone else’s experience but yours. You could have said “in comparison to” but no, you had to make that bold, definitive statement. Who cares if your life became exponentially harder when you had a toddler and chose to have another baby? That was your choice. Did your wife breastfeed? Ask her if

Having one newborn is easy. It sleeps 18 hours a day.

... I am talking very specifically here about the actual physical changes that happen to a woman when she pushes a baby out and how it takes a lot to physically move and present yourself after what can be a very traumatizing event.

I think a world exists in which we can both admit that these moms have a ton of help that makes things possible AND that they are still held to do many things that are incredibly difficult even with help. But I in no way want to denigrate what it takes for even a famous woman with a ton of help to meet the standards

I mean yes.... but also no. Because no legion of people in the world make it that much easier to stand up and leave a hospital 7 hours after you were in labor and not sleeping for 24 hour hours and then pushed a baby out your vagina and got 17 stitches and have to smile and look beautiful while probably bleeding into

Yes—newborn + young child is definitely very hard. But a newborn on its own (especially when its your first) is no picnic.

and to that point, they literally can’t do it from this country.

It’s not that he isn’t welcome, it’s that some have felt he’s made OTHERS feel unwelcome, kind of like that loud guy in your office who talks over people. In the original thread there were no calls for him to disappear, just be a bit more respectful. Much like you!

The initial time that this came to my attention was on a Saturday night social thread where JujyMonkey and MD were both mentioned by name. I don’t know if people have problems with others. Be careful asking about trolls though - I don’t think either of them are, and no one has seriously suggested that they are (and in

From what I can tell secondhand, Meteor is a troll. MD called Meteor out. That’s how they’re related.

Anyone who cares to look up my comment history can see what I said. Legitimate complaints. And for me, the dismissals are the most problematic part. He’s dismissed my comments before. Perfectly reasonable comments, no personal insults, just political disagreements about UK politics. And the dismissals usually happened

I was not, and have never tried to “mess with” anyone. I speak for myself, and have here since 2007. I am sorry MD was banned, which I never sought to happen. I was trying to explain to him what was objectionable about his behaviour, as were many other reasonable people. As for dismissal, when it was introduced, it

For what it’s worth, I am one of those burners (not to protect some secret main account, but because the vagaries of the greys system are absurd and I rarely have anything interesting to say) and this is a HORRIBLE outcome.

I never saw him shut any woman up.
