I was kinda hoping it was an expose on how mir and a rival space station had gotten into some sort of space-chicken and rammed each other, that being the REAL reason for the fire.

It is a good book, not sure why they listed this as secret history...
I'm sure your friends are incredibly stupid and you should show them the wisdom of their ways. There is likely no reason why they are doing what they are doing, right? They are lucky to have you as their 'smart' friend.
Good god if living inside is breaking my cat's spirit he must be the devil incarnate outside D:
I think the constraints for current modifications and generation of penicillin is working within the existing pathways in the organism—the various combinations in 'building' the penicillin structure as it were. There is a lot of work being done in this combinatorial fashion, interesting to see what one can get (and…
Really cool paper—thanks for posting it! If anyone is interested in a broad review of our modifications (from a metabolic pathway perspective—modifying the existing genes), this paper is pretty neat. Proteomics FTW!
Thanks so much—I really enjoy your feedback on the science journalism on io9 :)
Team science!
I think that he isn't understanding the importance of this paper and the work done therein. The point he was trying to make was correcting the over-statement (and connections which weren't actually there) of the original article.
To the best of my ability-I am not much of an expert on the cell-cycle (ha or ask my labmates!) and forgive me if I sound obnoxiously pedantic and correct me if I am incorrect!
Ha I was just about to write "PAGING DR. LIZARDO". This paper has nothing to do with cancer, but with premature aging & genetic instabilities and the very very bizarre predicted DNA structures you might get in these disease.
Well, I lie, because all my friends in the MFA and humanities PhD programs threw really awesome parties (themed! I learned stuff!) I remember those very fondly :)
I was doing my PhD at ages 22-28, and pretty much the only things I can remember happening are the scientific techniques I learned. I'll will start the flowchart immediately and report back, I guess?
Good luck getting them to correct that.
What do you have in mind? Low-cost vasectomies?

I was googling myself and found this, haven't made it all the way through yet, though. http://studentactivism.net/2012/01/22/hugo-schwyzer-is-still-doing-harm/
Darling, we aren't counting the Discovery Institute 'scientists'.
Preach. I got in and got out.
