Thanks - this has been confusing me. I’m familiar with “A-1" jet fuel which is basically just kerosene. I couldn’t understand how the Abrams could run on A1 as well as gas and diesel. Your explanation is much easier to understand. It can run on low sulfur JP-8, as well as gas or other diesel fuels when needed.

The issues are twofold, and the author is getting close, IMO, but not right on.

Parts and fuel cost money. Something Russia is not swimming in right now. They can convert 36 useless (to them) satellites into money in the form of spare parts they can use. The fact that the satellites are probably worth billions and the parts maybe only millions is probably not an important detail. The “spare parts

True. But the text that describes the rules can be copyrighted, and SRD is such an example of copyrighted text describing the rules. While it’s theoretically possible to rewrite the rules for 5e D&D without copying the SRD, in practice no one does this and for lots of existing extensions to the SRD depend on the

DM here and I agree: I would absolutely ask my players to recreate their characters in a real open gaming system, if 6e/1D&D isn’t truly open. And especially if WoTC tries to claw back their OGL 1 terms for 5E, I would see no reason to support that kind of treacherous behavior. I think a lot of DMs are well informed

Has Piazo fully excised all the language that describes the rules that they obtained from WoTC? It might be quite difficult to do this after the fact, if it wasn’t done when the rules were incorporated into Pathfinder..

The 5th edition rules are copyrighted by WoTC and licensed to the public under the OGL 1.0. That is what they are proposing to change with OGL 1.1 referenced in this article. It’s a stunning change that is trying to recoup all the benefits they have gained from using an open license and having the industry depend on

It’s called a “Welfare check” - police are often called on to visit a location to check if the person residing there is doing OK. It’s a pretty standard procedure. The results of the welfare check can be shared with close family I think, but I don’t know if a friend calls in a welfare check, if the police will share

Do you really think Tesla’s FSD will be working in “24/25"?

Air travel is generally easier than “2d” driving. No kids dashing into the street, street signs covered by trees, etc. Also the ground support for automated take off and landing is pretty good.

I saw the poker pro T.J. Cloutier beat a table at hold’em without ever looking at his hole cards. You can definitely play the opponents.

Thanks for sharing your expertise.

They are loud regardless of your settings, which is the point of the lawsuit. This lawsuit actually has a lot of merit, in my opinion. Apple and other platform makers should be adjusting alert notifications to match the system volume setting.

That’s not generally true as crypto is a zero sum universe: it creates no value, so the only way to get money out is to convince someone to buy your crypto for more than you paid for it. That money was real - someone took real USD or Euros or whatever, and bought that stupid crypto for it. Now they can’t get back

A dollar is backed by the full faith and credit of the US government. But other than that, it’s exactly the same as bitcoin. Both are totally worthless scraps of imaginary value, except for that: US GDP, international treaties, armed forces, federal and state regulations and statutes, functioning court systems,

Flying cars and this are not the same: while they may both be impractical and technically unattainable, if those issues were solved, I’d actually want a flying car.

There is no theoretical limit - and there has been credible discussion in the physics community of what building an accelerator in orbit would look like, and by orbit, they are talking about accelerating particles around the sun, not around the earth!

Exactly - now we’ll have to endure that jackhole on front of us yelling into their laptops with the speaker on (and you know he’ll have his seat back fully reclined while he “takes this one call”).

$40 for a lighter? There are already bendable neck lighters for lighting upside down and avoiding burnt fingers. But I guess this one looks a little cooler, so maybe that’s worth the other $30?
