I'm really not saying this to be an angry nerd/snark etc. for the sake of it, but I think he's massively overrated and I don't know why he gets exposure except that, as you say, it's topical to the site. Quality doesn't quite come into it.

It definitely looks ripped off to me, but I have to say, it's not a particularly impressive effect in the first place.
