My thoughts exactly. What a great one.

No. Traditional rear steer only turns in the opposite direction of the front wheels to tighten the turning radius. So if you turn the front wheels to the right, the rears turn to the left to take the rear in the opposite direction and make the vehicle rotate in a tighter circle. Crab walk allows the front and rear…
Japanese cars in the ‘80s had this, like the Skyline, Prelude, and MX-6 spring to mind. It wasn’t a feature that stuck around with them, perhaps this will catch on because this is for offroad rather than freeway lane changes and low-speed parking lot maneuverability.
The fire raises a bunch or EV-agnostic questions for me.
That was my first thought. If there’s no video of the crash or eye witness to say otherwise I’d suspect a driver bailing cause he was drunk and killed his passengers.

I know Jalopnik has a hard-on for shitting on Tesla but I don’t understand what Autopilot is being called out here. I pulled a map of the city and the only place where you find cul-de-sac there are in subdivisions where you have no business driving at speeds that would cause you car to be obliterated on impact.
I see two potential situations.
One person was in the passenger seat and the other in the back seat, so nobody was driving the car, ok that ended as expected. Darwin award.
Many will blame Tesla for the crash, deaths, and subsequent fire. Seems to me that the driver and the tree played starring roles.
My comp search shows it’s worth it, but it’s still a VAG product out of warranty so ND.
160k is a lotta miles, but damn that’s a good lookin’ car.
To each their own, but I think it looks like a toy. Even more so than the ‘fullsize’ trucks of today.
Nope. If a pickup truck can’t even fit one bike in the back it’s not a pickup. I mean, it isn't expected to carry pallets of wood. Fine. But this won't even work for a buddy and I to take our snowboards and gear. Or beach gear. Or much anything else without a severe compromise.
That is amazing.
My 2005 Saab does this. In fact there is an elaborate set of conditions dictating wiper function—if I recall correctly, if you’re going at high speed it will wait a different amount of time for the extra wipe, and if you’re at low speed it will put the ventilation briefly on recirculate or something to keep the smell…
My Viper has extra wiring from the factory in the rearview mirror specifically designed to connect a radar detector.
