Well if you take that final velocity and recalculate by adding about an inch to the x values for panel gaps, then see what the time is, it’ll be even slower...

Still cheaper than a Porsche Taycan?

With numbers like that, I might be inclined to have a healthy dose of skepticism about this whole thing, except you link the Lucid Air article right in the middle of this one.

Lol. They literally linked the Lucid 9 second quarter-mile article in this one and the tone could not be any more night and day. I’m sorry but this is a bit much. Jalopnik is thrilled about performance until it isn’t? Until Tesla does it? I’m not trying to be an Elon apologist but... damn.

Yes? Maybe I should have been a little clearer. I don’t think the semi will be in production for a while because they don’t have anywhere to make it. However, I think that Tesla has, or is close to, the technology and might be ready from a tech standpoint to produce it. So are we agreeing?

Regardless of how revolutionary this technology is or when it is ready, you can bet your ass that Jalopnik is going to shit all over it...

You mean the alternative of stealing the organs and stem cells of the clones of yourself that you harvest in order to keep you alive forever mercilessly killing each version of yourself until you slowly sink into madness?

I feel like there is potential for the front end. The side profile and rear look great, I like how they lowered everything and made it all flow nicely together. However, the front end... is off. Is it just me, or does it look like skin? it’s too smooth and stretched. I think it’s the headlights, the edges are too much

Yup, but at least it’s not vaporware. I don’t think they’ll have this thing in production any time soon though. They don’t have enough factories and their ones in Germany and Texas (both under construction) probably won’t be equipped to produce the semi. In the mean-time, they can improve performance and perfect the

Yeah, I kind of meant it both ways. The Taycan is undeniably superior to Tesla in some aspects, like consistency in performance after several launches and overall build quality, but it is also $200,000USD. Tesla, I think, stole the idea that EVs can be sexy and other auto-makers are struggling to convince the public

Now playing

Also, this is a pretty even-keeled explanation of the semi and where the technology is at:

Ok, so I agree with a good bit of what you’re saying Erik. I do have one thing to contest thought, the Tesla Semi. Tbf it is not in production but I think that’s because they literally do not have any factories to produce it at that aren’t in the process of being built. The Semi itself has apparently been doing quite

*cough*Taycan*cough*

It depends, probably not the elderly, unless they can pass annual stringent tests of mental acuity. As for teens, they still need to learn how to drive; however, they should be required to pass a test more along the lines of FAA-certified pilot’s license and less of “don’t worry, the written exam isn’t long, you

I think what you’re saying hits on an interesting point, though. I think that the reason why “self-driving car kills pedestrian” makes bigger headlines than “driver was texting when he killed pedestrian” is because we, as humans, like to think we have control and can assign blame in a way that might fix the problem.

Yet we let a 15-year old who has undergone only an easy written test get behind the wheel with only the vague requirement that their parent, doing god-knows-what, is somewhere in the car with them. (fyi: A parent can’t acquire control of the vehicle’s acceleration, deceleration, or general control from the passenger

Human drivers were at the wheel for 38,000 people killed last year, think about that...

Don’t say that.
