Endings like that are bad because they are tacked on and could be applied to any story. It's one of Stine's generic endings. On the other hand, the Ghost Next Door had A great twist ending that was built up throughout the book.

For me it's Monster Blood. First 100 pages are great. The last act is AWFUL
