IMO technology is only peripherally involved with this situation. It's really an ordinary case of false advertising.

That’s not quite true. Of the kids who are actually abused, most are by a family member. But that doesn’t mean any particular child is more at risk from a family member than from a stranger. The difficulty is some people who think their spouse or whoever would never harm a child turn out to be wrong.

Research on the effects of social media on children is at most mixed.

It also means he's not working 40 hours a week at each of those offices.

Those algorithms are not at all boilerplate, they're completely bespoke. 

They might not need top software developers, but that's not what everyone there does.
