A refinery processes crude oil, it doesn't produce it.
Exactly right. Don’t rely on a single AZ unless you don’t mind if your service becomes unavailable for an unknown period of time.
OK. I didn’t say anything about switching providers.
I was perhaps not entirely clear. I was referring to companies running their systems on AWS, not to Amazon.
The annoying thing is it’s not that hard to put eggs in multiple baskets. Have a redundant system in a different data center in another part of the country ready to go. The absolute worst case scenario, which I don’t think should have happened in this case, is having to repoint DNS records. That would be a very…
I’m not saying it shouldn’t have happened to Amazon. I’m saying anybody running something on AWS that is important to them should not have an availability zone as a single point of failure. You should have a recovery plan that survives that entire AZ going down and staying down for an extended period.
Any situation where a service becomes unreachable is a disaster in the disaster recovery sense. It doesn’t really matter if it’s due to an earthquake, a misconfigured router, or someone tripping on a power cable. There should be a plan for how to switch over to an alternative.
Very few internet services are in an oligarchy.
Actually it’s a reminder that critical infrastructure should have redundant disaster recovery backups. How do big companies still not realize this? Nothing of any consequence should have been down for more than a few minutes.
Is this like when Brabham said a final goodbye to its fans?
Hey it’s good enough for Obama!

The average driver (and even well above average) is much better off with stability control, regardless of drivetrain. “Steering with the throttle” will end up steering off the road unless you really know what you’re doing.
Why didn't you just drive yourself?
As-is (at least in the US) means without a warranty. You can get any certifications and tests you want, and it will still be sold as-is, unless you offer a warranty.
If it does it's been kept a secret pretty effectively. So probably not.
This seems really dumb to me. The point of a Morgan is to be charming, anachronistic, and beautiful. I think they are still making the frames out of wood. So this model seems completely out of place.
Yep that works too.
