In case it is necessary, and in case you were suggesting I was, I was not defending the troll nor claiming the term is not rooted in homophobia, or that it is acceptable to use in the way they used it.  There seem to be multiple people thinking that I might have been doing one or more of the disclaimed activities

I have never seen a Forest Service truck that color, and an image search reveals none.  Do you have a photo?

You mentioned cars “in its class”.  Those are all sports cars, i.e. cars in the same class.  Nobody was talking about years of production until you brought it up for no reason I can discern.  What does that have to do with how impractical they are?

Drive modes so smooth that I had to remind myself to check the speedometer because the massive increase in speed was almost imperceptible?

Why, so the 1% of owners who track their cars could drive them at 60% of their potential instead of 75%? The one and only thing that is better about the mid engine design is track performance (if you’re driving a C8 on the street faster than a C7 could manage, you should be in a straitjacket). So what percentage of

No offense, but why take it to the dealer for an oil change?  Were you getting free scheduled maintenance?

Not sure how that’s relevant, but OK.

Why is that a stupid question? I doubt most people even know enough to think it might be an MG.

DOES HONDA MAKE MOTORCYCLES?? ffs

That’s not a stupid question, because one almost never sees a truck that color.

Oh sure, but they also claim to smell it from a car going the other direction with all the windows rolled up. And there are plenty of cases where they claim to smell it and it turns out there wasn’t any pot there. It’s not that it's impossible to smell, but that it should not be usable as probable cause, because it's

Non veterans deserve no less.

Towing capacities:

That made me go look. Manual transmission Corvette convertible under $35K with less than 60K miles: lots of C5s and C6s, so yes I think you have the correct take.

Your definition of truck things is far too narrow. They can tow 5000 pounds and carry 1500. Plenty to do truck things, because not everyone tows a Bayliner and hauls boulders. And most people I expect do no off roading more severe than a minivan can handle, so that’s irrelevant for a large portion of buyers too.

And I find it interesting that in typical GM fashion they offered something sorta cool but crapped on it with bean counting only to later make it better just to kill it.

What about the part where every single job has to be done by Tuesday for some reason?  I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a car build show where they had an appropriate amount of time to do something.

jammed up way towards the back

There is some substantial portion of domestic truck buyers who just have a truck because they want a truck, not because they ever do truck things with it.  For the purposes of this topic, it doesn’t matter if it’s 10% or 90%, just that it is a meaningful proportion.  If someone just wants a truck, and doesn’t have any

I see, you’re just focused on that one sentence of the story.  Perhaps missing the forest for the trees, but you do you.
