It didn’t need to be retro styled, but it should have been more interesting. The first time I saw one, my first thought was to wonder why someone would put a V8 in a Cavalier (to be fair it was night).

I would guess most people who don’t like ABS either have no experience with it or just had bad ABS.  I’ve heard motorcycle ABS has gotten a lot better in recent years.

Yes, but as far as I know they never solved the problem of the air compressor sounding more or less like a jackhammer.

There is also much disagreement about what makes the experience better, and what is crap for the sake of crap. Beyond electric start and fuel injection (and idk maybe not even those), there is scarcely a technological advancement that somebody will not decry as adding needless garbage to a motorcycle.
