Wouldn’t it make sense for us to put our Ballistic Missile subs in the great lakes? No hunter subs would be able to get to them, enemy torpedo planes would have no chance of getting to them, etc. Or am I missing some obvious factor that would make the whole idea pointless?

What the hell does it matter if he hardly spoke any english in the movie? If anything, I’d say it made his performance even more remarkable - he had to convey the roiling internal mental and physical landscape without words,not an easy thing to do.
