I am not sure which I dislike most, the democratic ideal of effectively putting China and India in charge of this, or watching virtually-unpopulated Nauru play Kingmaker, but I guess it’s moot because either way we & this planet are SO screwed.

Waiting for the corporate video showing how they’re so green that fishes themselves go and pick up the metallic nodules for them.

Do they honestly need to even do this? Why not just make the AI create randomized humans for use like that and then you don’t even need to pay the extras in the first place? 

In any functioning republic, this revelation would be the end of Thomas’ tenure. But no. We’re not a functioning republic.

I see two outcomes:

If you go try to buy summer clothes, a lot of it has already been replaced with fall clothes. What the fuck is wrong with everyone?

My local Target, approximately two and half weeks ago, replaced most of their summer/outdoor stuff (outdoor furniture, rugs, LED string lights, etc) with school supplies. Most schools were maybe out 2-3 weeks at that point.  If I were a student coming off of a difficult spring session, I would sue for mental anguish.

Someone didn’t pick up after their dog?

Oh, don’t worry. They’ll replace them with Christmas decorations in September.

It’s the dead of summer so we can safely say it’s time for Halloween season to start ramping up.

There is nothing special or nefarious about this. Once she goes to see her case manager for the first time, they will adjust her release date. For her, since she is serving more than 12 months, she gets “good time.” This is roughly 15% off (54 days for every 365 days of prison term) her sentence which everyone gets…

I could see all of the above.  Someone is now working on that script.
