Despite all the discussion around it and passion put into it... it is possible that the show just... isn’t very good?

In the comics his moments of idiocy pass quickly. Even if they are frequent. The show by necessity stretched these out/created their own/added to them. Which made him so much more annoying. Even with all the nonsensical political stuff they shoehorned in.
I agree. I couldn’t find a single likeable character, except for 355. She kicks ass. I know that’s how Yorick was written in the comics, but god, no sane person would act like he did. “I know I’m the last man on earth but why should I hide, protect myself or any of my friends at all?” I didn’t expect a second or third…
I tried to get into this show but every character being super annoying or making super annoying descisions over and over again eventually becomes a huge turn off. I just got tired of it.
Yeah, I found it a little odd to see two Y: The Last Man headlines on Gizmodo, right next to one another:

I tried, Y, I really tried. But I only made it through like 3 episodes (each of whic felt like it was 4 hours long) before I just gave up. Yorick is just completely unlikeable. The political drama was just... nothing new. Megan McCain Clone is gonna be a back-stabbing troublemaker? no way, who’d have ever seen that…
Good riddance to bad rubbish. As excited as I was to finally have a live action adaptation of the comic I really loved, they did a horrible job with it. I stopped watching halfway thru the 3rd episode, bored af.
Yeah I know this show tried to go the extra mile in order to correct the indelicate way it treated trans issues in the comic, but really, calling the show Y: The Last Man and then having trans guys wandering around is sending more than one mixed message.
Guess I’ll have to get the comics, I actually really enjoyed the series.
They’ve made the show too political and the main character an idiot. Half the time I don’t enjoy the show because the make the only male character the biggest moron on the planet. I’m sorry, he wouldn’t be that clueless. And the daughter....that crazy? It had so much potential, but no....
Lot of people here trying to blame Fox management for making the wrong call here or corporate changes being the real reason, and yet FX does not have the same track record as Fox for cancelling good shows.

It’s so bizarre how they just took away anything interesting that the concept would provide and made it generic post apocalypse that happens to be ladies and an occasional trans dude just there to be on camera for two seconds then dip (except for the Pentagon plot that the showrunners don’t seem to get isn’t important…
Yeah, it sucks for the team because it’s a story that arguably was part of the zeitgeist that led to a more robust understanding of gender in the 21st century, but it was also... not there yet. While it was in development a bunch of people flagged that... hey, yeah, the whole chromosome focus is maybe a bit shitty…
Just further makes me think many of them are like those missile worshiping mutants from Beneath the Planet of the Apes.
