I disagree, ‘latching-on’ implies both an imbalance of power and one party clinging unwanted to the other. It can go both ways, but it didn’t, and a man latching onto a woman paints the man in an equally negative light.

I believe that most people knew this was coming in one way or another. The death of two of his closest friends certainly made something like this inevitable. Maybe it’s not too late to see Scott save himself for his families sake. Maybe.

It’s not love or hate—it’s profit. If you really dislike people, you don’t repeatedly write about their every word and action, unless you can make money exploiting the interest/dislike of others...which isn’t bad in and of itself, but sometimes (as with this article) it leads to a staggering lack of self-awareness…

Or is it the other way around? Say what you will about the Kardashians, but they are very tight-knit. I’m sure there are a lot of people who missed out on that closeness growing up who are really attracted to that.

Quit trying to blame Khloe. She actually kept his addiction out of the show for a long time. She tried to help Lamar, but an addict wants his poison. There comes a time where you have to save yourself if the addict refuses the help you’re offering and prefers the drugs and bad company to your help and love.

I think that there might be something to that but could also be that they latch onto men, who may fit into the mold of the father that they lost. I dont think its completely exploitative initially, however the lives they have created make it almost impossible to refrain from capitalizing off of them in the same way…

Yes, this. The media sensationalism around addiction and mental illness is what I think keeps it so stigmatized. Everyone wants a story. This person is like this because of x, y, z. Not fair to blame them for all of this. Lamar had struggles with substance abuse, and an almost absolute genetic certainty that would lead him to become an addict. So no they are not to blame for his addiction of his winding up in a coma. On the face a lot of the criticism that they are facing is because our society…

They did realize that. Khloe had their spinoff show suspended specifically so that she could focus on her marriage and see about getting Lamar the support he needed.

yep. he was supposedly on a crack binge. non addicts dont just go on crack binges because they are upset. he has a disease that needs to be treated.

Anyone close to an addict may clearly see the trainwreck coming, and still be completely powerless to do anything about it. You cannot force someone to get help. The only power you really have is to remove yourself from enabling them.

No, it isn’t fair. Addiction isn’t anyone’s fault; it’s a disease. To blame Khloe and her family is ignorant. And Lamar signs off on the content of the show if it involves him. He gets paid for it. He’s no victim there.
