Almost totally silent at idle, versus actually completely silent at idle and freeway speeds. Both my wife and I have EV’s as daily drivers and I won’t go back to regular car as a DD. I’m still a car enthusiast, I still love the sounds of a good engine and exhaust note, which is why I still own other cars to enjoy on

Sure, if you are distracted by those things. I find myself able to concentrate more on potential hazards around me when I don’t have to concern myself with shifting and carefully watching my RPM’s. That’s why I will always daily drive something I don’t have to shift.

Umm, you know I was talking about used cars, right? It’s in the same sentence. Read before you post.

Started riding motorcycles at 17, stopped at 28 (got married and had a kid, decided it was time to stop). I’ve had plenty of experience with the engagement that motorcycles provide.

Ummm, okay, nice response. Shall I start posting pictures of when I started racing karts at 7 years old? Or Formula Fords at 11? Formula Continentals at 16? No, I’m not Lewis Hamilton, nowhere near it, I was a mid-pack runner on my best day, but inexperienced is one thing that I’m certainly not.

My whole post was thrown off by the lack of a single word, “NOT”

It’s supposed to say: While I agree that’s what many people do, it’s NOT because they can’t afford it.

While I agree that’s what many people do, it’s because they can’t afford it. There are some car enthusiasts out there who still buy new, but yes, we are in the minority. I bought my 2008 Civic Type R brand new, I’ve bought two MINI Cooper S’s brand new. Granted neither of those are $100k cars, but when I see a

Manufacturers are continually trying to make cars not only faster, but safer. The easiest way to make a car faster and safer is to take the driver out of the equation as much as possible. If you want to look like a hero at your local track day without actually learning much about driving, these are the cars for you.

If you haven’t been there yet, schedule a tour of the Nissan Heritage Museum. It’s an amazing place, and completely free.

But it’s only harmless passing in a no passing zone until it becomes harmful. No way to tell who was coming.

Almost every car club in Japan has its name and logos written in English. Sometimes the English gets pretty bad too, it can be funny just to walk around shows and read all the car club names.

Well, I guess when I said “DD” I more meant along the lines of people that are looking for it as their only car. I know a person who did that with an Exige. Even put a tow hook on it so he could tow his slicks and some spares/tools on a small dolly trailer to the track.

No, but all of the Jalops should CONSIDER dropping $30k on weekend toys and daily driving a reliable and safe commuter car.

So they connected up an OBDII reader to an app they probably bought from someone and displayed it on their screen? So advanced.

My 2014 i3, with a MSRP of $51k, is now worth about $12k, with 18k miles on it. I’m glad I leased it, because even with the $7500 tax credit (which needs to go away soon), that’s a big hit to the pocketbook. I’m happy that BMW is taking that hit and not me.

Why would you even attempt to DD an Elise? I wouldn’t even want to DD a MR2.

Just do yourselves a favor and buy a used Elise. Toyota drivetrain, Lotus handling and styling. $30k or so for a good one. A new MR-2 would probably start at $30k and still not be as quick or handle as well as a bone-stock base model Elise.

Hi,

A “rager?”

Honestly, this is why I’m excited for the future of autonomous cars. No, I don’t give a damn about your “rights” or “freedom” to drive what you want when you want and how you want. I give a damn about this father who just lost a child and a wife, I give a damn about my wife, my 6 year old, and my 4 year old. How many
