Yeah, so does my dog. But he just gets too excited and ends up tearing up the interior. So he stays in the back, we’ve even got a little plastic foldup ramp for him to get in and out (he’s a Shiba, so not a big dog).

Who says AWD and snow tires are mutually exclusive? I’ve got separate wheels and snow tires for my MDX and it’s better than any 2WD vehicle I’ve had with snow tires. As far as doing just fine with a Rabbit, that’s great, but I’m not a “just fine” type of guy, I want the best I can get for the money I want to spend. A

Add AWD to that Mazda 3 hatchback and you can say goodbye to that advantage of cargo capacity.

But my original comment was referring specifically to my MDX, not the smaller CUV’s. 7-seat CUV’s are becoming more of a thing now, and the MDX actually outsells the RDX by a little each year and is Acura’s best selling

Oh and I see from one of your previous posts, that you claim to have owned a Honda CR-V, which is essentially the smaller and less luxurious version of my “shitty Acura.” So why did you own that CR-V instead of a little hatchback or wagon? Doesn’t that make YOU the problem as well? Douche.

Actually, when I go to baseball practice (not soccer) we’ll often take my 2006 Carrera S (manual too). But I forgot, it’s not a Miata or a brown station wagon, so it’s not “Jalop” enough for you, is it?

LOL, no. People that think everyone else should be forced into their definition of “right” are the problem, you leave the site.

Okay, in 10-15 years when that time comes, we’ll see what happens. Or we’ll just do like they did in the 70's and have everyone drive basically the same size car. Like I said, it’s not ONLY about visibility, there are other factors such as ease of getting in and out, increased right height, better handling compared to

My kei car (Wagon R RR) did fine on the expressway on a daily basis. Cruising at 100-110kph in the slow lane and it was very comfortable and not winding out the engine. The older 550cc models and non-turbo models have a little more difficulty though.

I had a 2007 Suzuki Wagon R RR (yeah, that’s a lot of R’s). Bought it already tuned, so it had a tiny bit more power and torque than stock and it was a great little car. You don’t buy a typical kei car like the Wagon R for it’s performance, you buy it because it’s cheaper to keep on the road, MUCH easier to park in

I also brought up a few other factors that make it better than a minivan for me. You can call it “lipstick” but I live with it every day, for its size, it is a great handling vehicle. I’d even venture a guess that a same model year Mazda 5 would get beat by an MDX on the track.

If you have a family of 3 or 4, I agree that wagons/hatchbacks are fine. But once you get into a family of 5 or more, wagons and hatchbacks become more of a pain than a blessing. Yeah, they are smaller and handle better, but try squeezing that 5th person in between two car seats in the back, or even two booster seats

The Mazda 5 is freaking tiny, and they don’t even make it anymore. It’s got seating for 6 on paper, and it might work for some, but not for me. Handling wasn’t the only factor in the decision process, but you chose to ignore the other factors like looks, acceleration, size, AWD, etc. I’ve got a 997 for when I want

You are aware that the Odyssey is also FWD only, does not have magnetic sport suspension, is 8" longer, 2" wider, has less ground clearance, is much heavier, accelerates slower, handles FAR worse, and is FAR uglier (IMO of course), aren’t you?

Also think about performance. My MDX does 0-60 in just under 7 seconds. The only minivan comparable would be that brand new Pacifica which is super ugly IMO. Most minivans are in the 9 second range. Now let’s talk about handling, going to a minivan you are essentially giving up everything as far as handling

No, the visibility argument still stands because there are still millions of coupes and sedans on the road. Besides, one of the best selling vehicles for the past ~20+ years has been a full-size truck. So we are already behind the curve as far as ride height goes. To have a remote shot at being able to see what’s in

Yeah, I could buy a minivan, but then I’m sacrificing even more performance and handling. My MDX does 0-60 in right at 7 seconds, has magnetic sport suspension and an advanced AWD system tuned at Nordschleife. No I don’t brag about that often, because it’s pointless. I chose my MDX because it’s one of the best

I don’t take him with me everywhere I go. But we live an hour away from a major mountain pass and some of the best hiking trails in the PNW. So I like to take him with me, and the rest of my family. He’s a part of my family, so he goes with us on family outings, at least once a week. I don’t take him to the grocery

Full-size trucks made that argument invalid many years ago. I’ll never be able to see over them, and I don’t like full-size trucks so I’ll never have one, but I can still see over all of the sedans. Good enough for me. If things change in the future, oh well, at least I’ll have a fighting chance of being able to see

I’m very aware of my surroundings, I have to be if I want to reduce the danger to my family as much as possible while driving. With the additional ride height, I can see over all the sedans to what’s going on ahead of us, so I can plan ahead in traffic, and be safer overall.

That’s great, now add in a few people, luggage for a day trip to the mountain pass, a couple booster seats for the kids, and what are you left with. Small hatchbacks are great, for some people, CUV’s are great, for some people. This is all I was saying, so many Jalops hate CUV’s but they really are useful/attractive
