I wouldn’t drain it that low. Most BMS’s will balance (basically equalizing the voltages on each cell pack and re-calibrating the SOC %) on a 100% charge.

How does this really affect you though? Other than giving you something to write about. 

Buying based on what other people think about me is strange. My GX460 is going to likely outlast those EVs and actually have less of an impact environmentally than potentially having to buy two vehicles when one dies, instead of just one.

While true, I would say there is still validity in the concern of EVs in the winter. Their battery capacity is diminished in cold weather, cold weather happens every winter for extended periods of time, and our electrical grid is notorious for failing during extreme temperatures. I’m in the battery industry too, so…

You can still find 2023 GX 460s on the lot. Better act quick though.

The exact reason I bought a 2022 GX460. Still has the proven 4.6 V8 and will last 300k easily with damn near everything still working. It didn’t change much throughout the years, but that’s one of its strong suits. Kaizen perfection.
