Agree completely. I bought a 1999 Jetta brand-new and drove it for 15 years, only giving up on it when the transmission would no longer allow go in reverse and replacing it cost more than the car was worth. I now drive a Passat (non-TDI). VW has definitely had some problems but I’ve bought 2 and have been very happy…
