It’s 100% fake. Pretty bummed they led with that one on this year’s post. Still, I love these, and on balance the stories are great and believable (even though I have, unfortunately, come to the conclusion that ghosts aren’t real, as much as I want them to be).

The scariest stuff posted here is the stuff that could *actually* happen, far as I’m concerned, like the terrifying one about the crawlspace above. Ghosts I can deal with. Psychos, not so much.

Holy shit. I’m so glad your survived this. Sending virtual hugs (the nice kind) your way.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSS!

So, here I go again. I actually submitted this last year, but late, and it got lost in the shuffle. The thing is, I don’t know if people will think its that scary. I only want to share because it is 100 percent true, and the lack of scares will be entirely due to me not being a particularly good story teller. This did

Huzzah! I have lots of free time lately while working from home, I shall read a good number of the submissions and ALL THE WINNERS AND STUFF.

Thrift Store Murder She Wrote seemed fake as hell to me. Like an author insert fanfiction.

Ahhhhh so freaking excited! I really need this, people.

This happened to me a few years ago, and I still get chills every time I think about it.

This happened on Halloween night 6 years ago. I had been out partying with my friends for hours, so needless to say I was very drunk, and very tired of being in my makeup and heels. I was a student back then, and had no money to take a cab, so I left the bar and ran to catch the last subway (just before 2am). There

AAAAA I *live* for these every year, even though oftentimes they creep me all the way out. Can’t wait to see this years’ submissions (except the inevitable dullards who think it’s witty to post some half-assed thing about Trump).

OMG Finally, I’ve been reading old posts to GET HYPE!!

GIMME THE FEAR

Finally!

Welp, there goes any chance I had at productivity for today.

Yeah, I should clarify that I don’t think it’s wrong to be attractive and acknowledge it. It was just not relevant to the story in a “By the way, did I mention I’m pretty?” way, which made me roll my eyes.

Good to know it wasn’t just me.

Thank god I’m not the only one who thought that story sounded super humblebraggy on top of obviously fake. “lol I’m so quirky and I drive across the country specifically to visit different small-town thrift shops. Also I’m very pretty and so petite that normal people clothes don’t fit me teehee isn’t that cute?”

Read this with a “scary music” playlist from your streaming service.....if you dare.

Beautifully written and beyond terrifying. Thank you for sharing this. The love and desire to protect our loved ones is so primal. I hope you and your sister have been getting trauma therapy to help you begin to process even a sliver of this and come to realize that, although you were both once helpless and victimiz
