Please stop with the assumption that Asian plastic surgery ideals are in any way shaped by European ideals. Many East Asians naturally have a double eyelid. The ideal of light skin is a classist issue — those who had darker skin tended to be poor laborers who were forced to work outside. Whether or not these SHOULD be

Can we please stop with the "European standards of beauty" trope every time we talk about Asians who prefer double eyelids and lighter skin? It's a particularly Eurocentric view and it's a bit annoying.

FELLOW WHITE PEOPLE: NOT EVERY PERSON OF COLOR WHO GETS PLASTIC SURGERY DOES SO TO LOOK MORE WHITE. None of these women look anymore European than before. Stop with the mental masturbation.

Yeah. And for quite a few of them, the changes that are Definitely Of Surgical Origin are pretty subtle — most of the "big difference" comes from dim bad lighting on a bare face vs professional (and probably retouched) photography and loooooaaaads of makeup. And as someone who regularly wears loooaaaaads of makeup, I
