I understand the need of representation and it has been a hard work for a lot of people, to be rightfully represented and working against stereotypes, and we just got and amazing representation of it in the Last of Us, and for me it was representation of love, something that everyone no matter their gender could feel,

I think there was a point and time about 20 years ago where representation wasn’t great and everyone really did understand why certain groups would ship the way they want to because it took care of a need that wasn’t being fulfilled otherwise.

I think 100% persona games need to have a multitude of genders available to date. I think if it is going to be a shallow power fantasy RPG series we deserve more options. I also think they struck gold with the two protags in P3P and should to back to that.

This article is weird though. It’s weird that you focused it

I completely agree that P5 and the series as a whole desperately needs to branch out and be more inclusive. However, I'm currently replaying P5R and have nearly finished Ryuji's confidant arc, and all of this is a stretch. As others have more eloquently put it, there's nothing wrong with having two male friends open

I like that they have such a great relationship without it being sexual. Felt a lot like a relationship I’ve been in a for about two decades. I’m demi, they’re an enbi ace.

I would agree IF the article wasn't so laser-focused on a specific pairing that comes off as a bitter fan ship.

It’s only reasonable if you ignore the fact that romance in Persona 5 is optional. The kind of relationship that the commenter describes would still be present in the game if the player were to choose to take the relationship in a platonic route.

Im bi and this is too much. Jesus christ . You make the rest of us look bad

exactly, 2 guys can be best friends, period. If we use the same logic, we could say that Bob Odenkirk and David Cross need to have a queer relationship just because they are very good friends! Not every friendship has to end in a romantic relationship.

I have to agree on this. Also a gay man here. While it’s a well-written article, ultimately it comes across as someone being disappointed about their ‘ship not being canon - I had the same problem with the discussions that happened around Luca, which completely ignored the fact that the movie was the brainchild of a

Persona, a beloved and decades old series is homophobic for not letting a straight written protagonist romance boys?

I get where you are coming from. But implying that 2 dudes being friendly with each other should be gay also diminishes that 2 dudes can also be open with each other and trust each other in a way that isn’t “toxic masculinity”. What I mean to say is they are best friends who care about each other. Atlus definitely

But canonically Joker isn’t gay. That’s like saying Frodo and Sam should have gotten together.

Whoa whoa, this is too mature and reasonable of a take for Kotaku. Dial it down buddy!

Fully agree with you. I loved seeing their relationship develop the way it did. Beyond brothers really. Deep platonic love for eachother with nothing held back is one of the purest forms of love there is.

I was surprised to see it was supposed to be gay according to this article.

Why is it necessary? why force it? I am a gay man I do not need every game or media to have a character that represents me, even less when is done JUST to include it without real heart or purpose. I never saw any of them as being gay, and never had the illusion of them being gay, they do not have a gay story, so why

This is more a tricky subject than it seems at first.

I’ve put in something like 200 hours into pokemon picross.  It’s one of my go-to’s when I have to burn 10 minutes and I have my 3ds around.

Great, more phishing schemes to look out for.

The Chicks were cancelled for the better part of two decades for being right about G W Bush.
