I almost pulled the trigger on a Volt this weekend but there was an airbag light on during the test drive. I've looked at the ELR as well. They are few and far between.

I agree that the Volt is in a sweet spot.

Fuel cells do well in rough duty when they are designed for it. Look at any US space program since Gemini.

And battery development isn't just limited to cars. I'm not aware of the broad development of fuel cells for other industries. Battery development is in many areas.

Very cool childhood memories! I read an article about hidden oil fields in LA a few years ago. It’s a fascinating place.

Go ahead! Throw your vote away!

I’m still holding out for the 2nd gen ZDX without the chrome beak. What will they name that? /S

Yeah using that logic, what will the CT6 be? Discontinued?

Aren’t the “tar pits” asphalt puddles? Aren’t they also located on Wilshire?

I bought my last car with a spreadsheet on a tablet. It let me drop all the numbers in for myself so that no fees were missed. I got the deal do e for an acceptable price in just over a half hour.

NP. Aren’t there off the shelf LS swap kits for the E36? Asking for a friend.

I looked at your reply. I think the HV battery pack failure rate quoted from Toyota is less than 2% at 10 years. I see the failure rate as very low. I also see that the repair of a failed battery is not that difficult. I’ve inspected mine and cleaned the airflow channel on the battery and it’s not difficult. The

With my luck, the CUE would crap out the week following the warranty.

I'll buy an updated ELR as long as it doesn't have CUE.

This comment right here is gold!

OK, I think there’s a bit of an issue with this article. This is the 1st gen Prius. There were issues with that battery. I have a co-worker with a 2000 Prius. He got a new battery in 2003 under warranty. It’s been good for the last 16 years with no issue.

I’ve seen totaled repairs before. I had a clutch release fork failure on a previous car that was a “$2000 fix” on a $1500 car. The part at the dealer was $36. I bought a new fork, clutch, PP, T/O bearing for less than $200 and fixed it myself on a Saturday.

10 year battery swap? What's this you say? I've got a 7 year old Prius with 200K. Either way, is rather swap a battery pack than another timing belt.

Thanks for the insight! Always interesting to see how others do it.

Currently, I’m resisting the urge to buy this.
