I looked at a Yaris when I bought my Prius C. I’ve got almost 200K on it and have only done normal maintenance (oil, filters, tires, wiper blades, light bulbs). I don’t know how long my battery will last but I know it’s easier and cheaper to change a battery module than to change a timing belt.

With how connected new cars are, we are destined to see more recalls. The data was not present in the past to point to a common problem so quickly. Even if my local dealer repaired an issue on my car, and another dealer fixed the exact same issue, the two might not show exactly the same in a manufacturer database.

Agreed, but the 9 is only 20 inches longer and best I can tell it takes at least 26 inches in length to add another row of “comfortable” seating. I'm probably pining for the wagons of yore with the 2 feet of overhang after the rear wheels.
