It depends on how you look at it. Avengers 2 was the first MCU movie that did not make more money than its predecessor. It was then followed up by Ant Man, the lowest grossing MCU film to date (adjusted for inflation, it has made less than the hulk)

Comic book movies have been the most prolific genre of the decade. A disproportionate amount of tent pole releases (especially in the summer) are comic book themed. A disproportionate amount of comic book movies are the highest grossing films of their respective year. In 2014, 5/10 highest grossing films were comic

Hey now, Ashton Kutcher was on America's #1 sitcom for a while. While it wasn't anything great, middle America knows him as Walden Schmidt.

Fun Fact: He was a male model, and That 70s Show was the first acting audition he ever went on.

I'm not a Manga expert, but the few I have experience with are in black and white, which I always assumed was a way to keep the price down.Is black and white the industry standard?

Due to the unexpected success of Guardian's I'm sure the people over at Disney thought they could add Marvel's name to anything, and expect it to print money.

I absolutely agree. An issue of a comic in the USA cost about as much as a movie ticket. When you consider that you can get through an issue in less than 30 minutes it's not worth it. For the same price I can get 2 hours of entertainment AND I don't even have to read.

Morgan Spurlock made a movie about this very fact. Comic con is bigger than ever, but less and less comic book vendors are showing up because they don't make any money.

Superman made 300, The Godfather came out 6 years earlier and made 280. I'd say they were comparable in terms of financial success. I'm not suggesting they stop making comic book movies, I just wish studios would be more willing to make both. At the moment things are a bit onesided.

In the past 3 years I have seen exactly 3 movies in a theatre. So you might be onto something, I am definitely part of the problem.

Ironically, even though comic books are all over our movies and TV shows, actual comic book sales are at an all time low.

You're right. I wish I knew why the film industry is aimed at children. In the 60s/70s the big movies were aimed at adults. Blazing Saddles, Dirty Harry, One Flew Over the Coocoos nest, The Godfather etc. Great movies, that were made for an adult audience, that made buckets of money. These kinds of movies are still

(the law of) diminishing returns. At some point these movies are going to stop making money, and their profits are already trending downward. The MCU is like the Soviet Union. It is bound to crumble under its own weight.

Um, wasn't Ant Man the lowest grossing MCU film?

It's an interesting world we live In, when Ashton Kutcher was the breakout star of That 70s Show.

Regina George: Stop trying to make Fantastic 4 happen!

Edgy. They were trying to be edgy.

Based on their post Seinfeld careers I believe LD was the real genius behind the show.

Mulaney was the worst.
