Ah, I can explain that: to me Ollie and Bruce Wayne are defined by the fact that they can be badly hurt. There are stakes here that just don't exist with Clark Kent. Bruce solved this problem by wearing body armor; Ollie has not yet done so. So, while I agree that Rule of Cool makes it work, it still drops me out of

Judging from his replies, the only critics he cares about are his own multiple identities. That allows him to make vague statements about critics actually liking the movie. So, that would be House M.D., Harold, Mr. Stix, Mary, the other Mary, Sharon Galaxy, Charles Bronson, Jackson Bone, Chris, and a bunch more.

Well, I suppose that's possible, but randomly name-dropping his real ID as if we're supposed to just accept it as truth is pretty ineffective "proof".

Yeah, but as you noted, TV would never accept that, since they need the hero to emote. I'm personally okay with faceless characters if the voice acting and body movements convey the necessary inflections (ref. V for Vendetta). However, with Ollie using a voice modulator, even vocal expression is compromised for this

LOL yeah, it's … it's not great. However, I don't think it's particularly horrid, and I'm willing to let it grow on me. Its problem is that whoever designed that outfit clearly can't let go of the Tron aesthetic (which was my same issue with the Superboy outfit in Teen Titans).

ROFL, no, I'm just not devoted to TV as much as would be expected of a regular visitor to the AVClub. Even now, I'm limiting my viewing time to ~7hrs a week. I've only ever seen a handful (less than a dozen) of BTAS episodes over the years.

While that's true, driver was still doing well enough to hit Ollie's cycle. When bullets are landing within inches of a person, it's advisable for that person to … do something. This doesn't even take into account the dangers of ricocheting projectiles and high-speed debris.

It wasn't banned so much as "voluntarily withdrawn" due to the Boston and Newtown incidents.

Phil doesn't read the comments. At least, I'm fairly certain he does not. When the episode titles were botched up last year, people were trying to alert Phil about it. However, it was only finally corrected when a complaint was made to Todd on a different show's discussion thread. It's futile to try to get Phil's

The theme song change is awful. It lost that running sensation of the strings section. Before, it felt like a bunch of wolves sprinting … now it's just a series of muscular spasms. I believe this was changed just this episode (at least, I strongly recall enjoying the usual theme song last week). Boooo! BOOOOOO!

Yeah, the purpose of the base is unnecessarily vague. Presumably they are trying to conduct experiments outside the reach of particular laws. However, the show doesn't do a good job of explaining how that's the case, or how that's more convenient than just doing secret experiments elsewhere.

Yeah, the social dynamics of that base is incredibly unclear. It looks like Hatake turned it into his own personal kingdom, and no one cared. Each project seems segregated from the rest, and there are no project teams (it looks like everyone works solo for some reason).

"But it's a spiral staircase nobody has ever seen before!"

Yeah, I just find it kinda hilariously sad that he bothers to deny his identity when people catch on and call him out. His insistence on coming back to a place that repeatedly rejects him is pretty bewildering. I think it requires him more keyboard taps and mouse clicks to create a new account than it does for a mod

Huh. Well, I suppose that's someone else to note. That's only the 3rd crazy I've noticed on AVC (Chris, the anti-police dude, and now suicide fan), but I guess there might be more.

Yeah, the delay tactics are reflecting negatively on the characters. So, Tumor Girl (the character I disdain the most at this time) decided that the best way to handle an infected woman is to hide her in her room. Apparently, this woman can go missing for a day, and no one will notice.

That spiral staircase is a thematic helical structure. Symbolism!

Yeah, the plotting is getting in the way of itself. It's clear the writers needed a bunch of obstacles to prevent the show from resolving its issues too soon, but this results in a lot of dubious behavior among the characters. You can tell they're all behaving this way because the plot needed them to stall.

@TheReturnofAVClubFan was threatening suicide?! Just to talk to the mods? That's … that's just bizarre.
