Gerard had no intentions of killing Deucalion. If Deuc was dead and Gerard survived, it would be harder for Gerard to claim that Deucalion ambushed them. It's why Gerard used a club with claw-shaped spikes.

Gerard only blinded Deucalion because it was a set up. He wanted Deuc to survive and take the blame for the massacre. This was revealed in the scene when Gerard clubbed his own men to death.

Yeah, I don't know why this show is squandering its limited episodes with filler. There are so many directions to follow and so many open threads to wrap up. Why they keep repeating their story beats instead of progressing the plot is beyond me.

@olivececile:disqus Hah, was that too much thought into the characters in Tom's illusion? I guess I'm just trying to make sense of Dai's random inclusion. You're right that Jamil would have been thematically better.

Yes, I think this show needs to develop a genuine sense of humor or delight. The dreary somberness can be overpowering when coupled with how unlikable the main cast of humans turned out to be. Allowing a semblance of joy to enter the show would serve as a reprieve against the oppressive cynicism being bandied about.

I actually can never recognize Doug Jones in real life. I only know the characters he's played in costume.

@avclub-dfd10b577adecd1f6ae8c9a477b0bf2d:disqus You might be thinking of Cochise's flower speech. It was an evasive non-answer full of implications with no concrete statements. The whole thing was about Cochise's emotional motives, not about what actually happened to his home world.

@avclub-75e2e3139fa0d929d8852e23594c1238:disqus I re-watched that scene with Weaver, Tom, Cochise, and the Volm weapon, but there was no mention whatsoever about the Volm's conflict against the Espheni. The preceding scene where Weaver and Tom have drinks also didn't have anything about Espheni invading the Volm.

I'm neutral on Julian. He's not one of the stronger performers, but I don't find him remarkably weak either. I'd say the mediocre scripting on his character arc is actually the bigger problem—I can't seem to care about his version of Liber8.

No, that was Doug Jones without his Cochise suit. (I'm actually not sure if you were joking, but my post is for teh lulz.)

What's On Tonight is accessible via the Calendar button at the top of the page (next to the All Shows button under the TV Club tab). I just discovered that myself this week.

I'm sure he'll find a conveniently road-worthy vehicle with a conveniently full tank of gas in a location that's easily accessible, just like Pope did when they crashed into the forrest.

Haha, yes! That was quite a bit over-the-top, and actually uninformative for people who don't already know what they're seeing. It was all a jumbled collection of imagery with no context, and mixing in game footage further muddles the confusing cuts.

I'm disappointed with what's happening to Lucas. Temporal dislocation sickness is … why do we need this?! Were there too many Liber8 members to handle, so they had to dump Lucas?

Well, Karen doesn't take it seriously, so I don't think I should either.

ROFL that's hilarious. That must have confused a few people who don't know Doug Jones.
