@avclub-0ae7484a9f3bbd2a21df420050c032ae:disqus Yeah, when she was first introduced in this show I was itching my brain trying to figure out where I've seen her before. I quickly looked her up online after the end of the episode and was pleasantly surprised to see her past credits. I really enjoyed Lacy Rand's rise to

Well, it's still possible that Karen controls all the worms inside Lourdes. I'm just confused as to why they all stay inside her, instead of co-opting other people. Surely Karen only needs one of them inside Lourdes to control her.

I'm pretty cynical when it comes to the Volm as well. I'm just not buying their altruism. They send out entire fleets of their population to save the galaxy from the Espheni? No, sorry; I'm not drinking that Kool-Aid.

I don't know if they always intended to have the alien baby subplot, but they certainly could have handled it better as far as the Anne Glass character was concerned. She was fairly level-headed in prior seasons, but here she's an erratic mess. You would think that with only 10 episodes this season, the writers would

With all the eye worms infesting her, Lourdes should have managed to take control of Charleston's upper echelon by now. I don't know why she's keeping the worms to herself. Maybe Lourdes needs them to send messages to Karen, but Karen should then send the worms back to Lourdes after retrieving the messages if that's

That hasn't been revealed. It might never be revealed, since it doesn't seem to be pertinent to the plot. They're basically some other subjugated species that was transformed into Skitters, like the harnessed kids are supposed to become.

I thought the subplot with the Picketts was supposed to make a statement about the Masons, but it didn't actually go anywhere. There was some back and forth, and then everything returned to the status quo. I'm sure Matt's actions will be addressed later on, but his character arc is no Walking Dead Carl Grimes.

@disqus_okgItcD0yy:disqus I know what Pope was going for, but nothing he said was remotely sensible. He wanted to point out to Maggie that she is not in a position to look down on him, considering her complicity in Hal's activities. Unfortunately, he went on this rambling idiocy that had no logical train of reasoning.

Eh, actually for consistency in my fanfic twist, Liber8 might be more an Espheni analog. Liber8 is on a kick to wreck the present in order to save the future. "It became necessary to destroy the town to save it" might be the Espheni adage, if they're trying to save humanity from the Volm.

I'm actually confused as to what the most recent U.S. Syfy episode is supposed to be. Syfy's website says Second Degree aired on July 12th, but iO9's review is talking about the Ouroboros case, which is from the prior episode, Second Truths. Which episode was the one aired on Friday?

I think Travis was groomed to be a super-soldier of sorts with embedded CMR tech, so it's likely that strategy and tactics are part of his design. Sonya wants to implement a more subversive mental shift in the public consciousness, but she seems out of her depths.

The actress who plays Emily/Alec's girlfriend was the one who played Lacy Rand on Caprica. I liked her character arc there from cult recruit to religious terrorist and finally to Holy Mother of the church with a cylon army at her command. I enjoyed her combat scene in this episode against the intruder at Alec's place.

I could see that happening, and I would like for that to be the plot so as to explain Lourdes's haphazard character development. Maybe her subsequent nihilism last season is similar to Hal's psychosomatic paralysis at the start of this season. Then the fact that she got over her nihilism and rose up the medical ranks

Yep, I couldn't follow Pope's line of thought with that conversation. He kept moving from one point to another and managed to evade culpability and simultaneously blame Maggie for her situation. She didn't report Hal's activities, so that evens out the raping? Wat?

The twist is that the Espheni are actually transforming humanity to protect them from the insidious Volm. Alexis is their attempt to create a new breed of humans that doesn't need harnessing or to be transformed into Skitters. This new breed will survive the irradiating grid the Espheni intend to deploy, and the Volm

Yeah, I'm not going to pretend to understand the Espheni war machine at this point. The show won't tell us their motivations, show us their organizational structure, or even explain their strategies. They were doing so well last season with the conversations Tom had with the Overlord, but I don't know what happened

Tom took his sons with him because he didn't want any of them facing the consequences of Hal's actions as a mole. He wasn't gonna leave Hal and Matt behind to face the anger of the Charleston population. Tom only believes in fair trials and justice when his sons aren't the ones involved, so he immediately fled the

Yep, here's what producer/director Greg Beeman had to say about the behind-the-scenes with Moon Bloodgood's pregnancy:
