I agree 100%. I guess Linda Woolverton thought it more important to tell a tale of triumph that came from tragedy. The movie's making tons of money, so I'm sure we'll get a sequel. I hope we get a story that's more about a woman using her power without having it be defined by a man.

I thought the whole point of the movie was the rape scene. Too often do we see movies about a man who has something happen to "his woman" that defines his growth.
