@curlymeatball38: I have to disagree. I was just about to write the same thing. That thing looks like a real gun. Maybe IRL you can tell the difference, but it looks very much like a stainless steel barrel.
@Kaiser-Machead: I'm really into a more isolated tribe up the river. You've probably never heard of them.
My parents yelled at me whenever I tried to stand or balance on a chair. I quit when I was around 12.
@TendoMentis: Well, after all, if they were truly uncontacted, we wouldn't have pictures of them. I'd doubt that there are any people on earth who haven't at least seen a plane pass overhead, or had one guy stumble far from their home turf and run into some other group. And at least in the Amazon, the groups we think…
Here's a really interesting example: The Sentinelese people of North Sentinel Island, off the coast of Burma. They live isolated on one island, and they have pretty much never let anyone else come ashore (some have basically snuck onto the island, but usually they try to kill anyone they catch in the act). They are…
I'd like to echo the sentiments of some of the other commenters here, and say that the tone of this post veers towards being very patronizing.
@TendoMentis: When they use the term "uncontacted" in these situations, it typically means that the tribe refuses to interact with outsiders. It usually doesn't mean that they are people that have never come in contact with modern man.
@infmom: Thank you.
I know I'm afraid to sleep with the internet just always going on out there; who wouldn't be?
@juansmith: I believe it's a real document originally intended as a bulletin to law enforcement personnel, but there's nothing classified about it, so it's fair game to print it out and show it to a cop if you want.
@scribethemad: In defense of law enforcement, there are good cops who know the law and enforce it properly while also understanding the value of common sense. It's just that they exist in a system that doesn't always reward that behavior, and often doesn't properly punish the true assholes.
@scribethemad: There's an old motorcycle in my neighborhood that has big, bright laminated signs taped on the seat, gas tank, and the bags on either side. The signs all have a message in bold lettering that says (paraphrased): "It is illegal to ticket this vehicle for parking on the sidewalk or at a bike rack…
I understand that the strikethroughs are part of the documentation process, and that edits need to be preserved, but if I gave this to a cop who was already ignorant of the law, they'd probably think it was fake.
Non-iron shirts have been around for years, but I will give my strongest recommendation for Brooks Brothers.
@Carrick1973: I find that with heavier ties, the full Windsor is too fat. I've always used a half Windsor, and I've never had an issue making it look symmetric if I wanted to.
@semperverus: You heard wrong. There are other differences in milk from different species, but lactose is lactose. It looks like this:
@grysl: I haven't met a serious graphic designer or typographer that held firm to the two-space rule. The vast majority are quite the opposite; for them, one space is the rule and two spaces is an error, and there's no debate about it. I would be interested in meeting the huge numbers of design professionals you know…
@grysl: I doubt that anyone has a huge problem with your viewpoint on one space versus two.
