X didn’t even have ATB...
None of the things in this post are relevant to the discussion. The US is fucked up. That doesn’t reduce the sexism of Japan’s workplace culture.
I don’t see how anything you stated negates what that person is saying. Especially when they use the World Economic Forum’s ranking of the wage gap. But if you want a Japanese person to shatter your Japan can’t do wrong perception, watch Better Ask Shogo or Nobita videos on gender inequality in Japan.
Missed the forest for the trees there. Parker and Aerotek are strictly hands off - I’ve worked for both with NOA and know several folks who’ve worked for Aerotek. They’ve got representatives in the office that you talk to if you’re gonna miss a day, other than that they don’t talk to you at all, even for benefits…
That’s how every temp job for a temp agency ever works? I’ve never had the employee of temp agency go with me to a job site and suddenly become the manager of the place where I was sent. Went to a warehouse? You answered to the warehouse employees that worked for the warehouse’s company, in their warehouse.
Its really not tho. Not to the degree its seen in other places. There is no other place where office lady is a thing like how it is in Japan nor is it normal to have the women srrve you drinks on your mandatory post work get-together
It’s actually both. While the article primarily focuses on the contractors, the women working directly for Nintendo don’t have a great time.
It’s also only on paper that you work for Aerotek (Or Parker services, the other company on-site). You report directly to NOA employees, with NOA employees, in the same offices…
Not to mention, a couple of the people directly named were actual Nintendo employees and not just contractors.
Is there really a goddamn difference between an article named “Nintendo Of America’s Testers Say They Faced Years Of Sexual Harassment” and one named “Nintendo Of America’s Third-Party-Contracted Testers Say They Faced Years Of Sexual Harassment”? No. Besides, part of the focus of the article is how difficult it was…
I’ll quote LeGuin here: We think of capitalism as inescapable. People once thought the same of the divine right of kings.
Politeness/Civility is a tool of the oppressor.
I’m always confused by the shock at the revelation that Milli Vanilli were a front.
Even putting env. impacts aside, wealth inequality and the erosion of the middle-class is a growing problem. Crypto (and derivatives like NFTs) DOES NOT solve this, but threatens to make it worse. Horrifying lack of regulation, rampant scams, commodification of everything in our lives, smart contracts allowing…
“I also think it’s weird how ANGRY people get about them.”
We’re in the middle of a climate crisis, and companies are engaging in willful environmental destruction because it’s a “hot” fad.
Maybe because being politely outraged didn’t fucking do anything and the world is being literally ruined for every creature but, possibly, ourselves? We’re going to literally drown millions, if not billions of people or at least their former habitats, because we were politely objecting to bad policies in the 20th…
I mean.....there’s a Mac version of MS Office. Dollars are dollars no matter which fanboy it comes from.
It’s almost like the people who comment on all of these articles don’t understand how businesses function, and think the only way to make money is to have “exclusives” for your dumb console, and not like there is any other reason a giant corporation might buy another corporation expect for “console wars”
Probably because it’s not a very big story as it could be. Sega has already sold most of their arcade business prior to ditching the business completely, and the company that is taking over the business is GiGo which Sega themselves once competed with. Most all of the current Sega locations will remain, they’ll just…
