Maybe you leave the game open? I think it doesn’t update to not lose progress. The only updates that override this are the system ones and they are maddening because if you didn’t save your progress is gone. 

Huh, I have never noticed this problem.  Maybe its because I leave my PS4 on Sleep mode at all times so everything is automatic done for me while its sleeping.

I know for Switch, if you’re storing games on the memory card, get the fastest one you can. The Sandisk Extreme and Samsung EVO+s compared to another brand (and even other models Sandisk and Samsung had) made it load in like 75% of the times, approx. I times even a 10 second difference in one of my games.
