I think we're agreeing that the engine controls how the game uses textures, and a better engine can better optimize the use of higher res textures. No, it cannot be changed, but if it is well-developed it can help the workload.

But you don't code game textures. Yes, the higher the resolution the higher the VRAM usage. But the engine is what uses the textures. The engine facilitates those things.
Yes, but you're still wrong. It's not the texture file that makes that distinction, it's the engine itself. The engine tells the video card how to use the texture files. The texture files are just pictures.
Yeah, the Deus Ex DLC was gut-checked as "no" and specifically mentioned it being good, but not worth the price.
Well I'd like proof, first of all. And sure, if they're super high res that can happen, and can force you to SLI/Crossfire your graphics card to take full advantage of the texture pack with good performance. And no, you're wrong. It CAN be optimized. It also depends on the engine and how it handles textures.
That's not true at all. No matter what, higher res textures will require a good graphics card. I have a good graphics card, I'm not worried. Developer or not, they implement them the same way Bethesda does.
I think I'm seeing a pattern here... Tons of game gut-checks on Kotaku are getting "YES" while DLC for those games are getting a resounding "NO," mostly for price.
I suppose, but I prefer physical copies of games. Faster install times that way, anyhow.
Lucky bastard. I get half that, sustained.
You're more optimistic than you made yourself sound :P I would have figured that you wouldn't have anything to do with the game until you heard proof that it was worth buying. And honestly, it took me a lot of thinking to decide to pre-order this game, especially after making the mistake of pre-ordering Mass Effect 2…
Well it'll be an option after a modder develops something for it. Pretty sure hardcore mode has been confirmed NOT to exist.
Yeah that's bullshit. I'm holding out hope that they do something for the PC version of the game in the next week or I'm gunna be pissed.
I hate you so much =/ SPOILER. ASS.
The Amazon sale also appears to be console games ONLY.
No, it's not. Don't even think there's a hardcore mode that makes it necessary. But there will be survivalism mods that require one to eat and drink.
I, too, am worried about this game. BUT! I'm going at it as a completely different game, not an Elder Scrolls game. I think it will be a really good game, but I don't think it's going to be a very good Elder Scrolls game.
Yeah, what they said.
I'm sure I'll love it, but I don't have the money right now. Well, I get paid on Friday... Maybe I'll buy it. I can't decide! I'll have to think about it.
Less chicks means higher focus on the chicks who are alive (the females). So in terms of food, keeping warm, and all that good stuff.
"The fact that the females can fly earlier means they have a better shot of surviving the flooding than males."
