@Jmans Revenge: I'm a huge Mythbusters fan and although i haven't seen that particular episode (hull breach), i have found myself disagreeing with their methods and conclusions from time to time.

@wetterberg: i didn't say "fatal" hull ruptures but hull ruptures nonetheless. A projectile piercing the paper thin walls of an airplane will surely cause a loss in cabin pressure and at high altitudes, that can cause problems for both pilot and passengers.

@bsegovia: maybe not guns because they could rupture the hull but i'm all for tasers, knives, and shanks of all sorts.
