“The demands of action and comedy, however, are apparently much too great a weight for this action-comedy to Lyft.”

For me one of the most satisfying moments of this finale was Kith telling Jeri, “You don’t want to die alone...but you will.” From day one, Hogarth has always been an utterly despicable person and when it looked like Kith was going to forgive her I was ready to throw something at the screen. That swerve at the end…
I can’t tell if Sallinger lured Jessica into the water tank in order to trap her there (was that supposed to be some kind of poison falling from the ceiling?) or whether she accidentally trapped herself in there and was just running out of air.
I would say that AEW is more like what the USFL was- a league that is clearly second fiddle to the major competitor, but has some real high-level talent (not bare bones like the XFL) and can be viable if managed correctly.
Meh. AV Club’s total 180 on Joss Whedon was pretty weak. After Whedon got caught cheating on his wife, AVC immediately started acting like they never liked him and how his female characters were actually all super duper sexist as if we weren’t celebrating Buffy Week 4 days earlier. If there was any specific moment…
Joss Whedon, despite his significant faults and failings, is a solid director and writer, and I think he’s generally good at getting good performances out of his actors, so if we’re going to have a new Joss Whedon series on our television sets, I am super glad thatat least Laura Donnelly is getting a lead role out of…
Does thinking Joss Whedon is a very good filmmaker count as a hot take now? I feel like I missed something.
Meh, Crispin Glover could take this guy in a fight. He’s strong, he can kick!
Note the objects Scott bounds around—a pencil, a headphone jack, what looks like a measuring tape. All pretty Earth-ish objects.
How taxing is it to suspend your disbelief for 10 seconds?
I think you’re confused. The Stan Lee you see in the Captain Marvel movie is Earth-199999 reading the Earth-199999 version of the Mall Rats script.
The Stan Lee who acted in the Captain Marvel movie is the Stan Lee from Earth-1218 who appeared in the Earth-1218 version of Mall Rats.
Severance is a great read. Picked it up based on Maureen Corrigan’s review on Fresh Air. And that may be the most poseur cognoscenti thing I’ve said ... this morning.
As long as we promise to also recognize a good-natured joke in reply, sure!
I can’t explain it, but I love Ruth Langmore more than anything. The plot is not frantic. It moves along. They don’t devote whole episodes to someone sitting in a warehouse, like Handmaid’s Tale. The performances are uniformly good, sometimes great. It was obvious that Season 3 was coming, based on the last episode.…
Veterans Day is in November, idiot.
They are both weird penises
Brett Cullen morphed so gradually into a poor man’s Sean Bean, I didn’t even notice until now.
If you subtract the money out of the equation, the fact that this series is still cranking ‘em out is inexplicable. There was ONE great Die Hard movie. There was one enjoyable sequel that felt very little like a Die Hard movie. There was one wan photocopy of the original. And two greasy turds that captured basically…
But, like, can we have Wally as the main Flash?
Oh, his FF is even better than his Avengers.
