Elaine: Oh, this is the one Vincent told me about. The Pain and the Yearning. “An old woman experiences pain and yearning.” A 192 minutes?

Most of the examples of blackface being removed are either 100% harmless or are actually a commentary on racial dynamics and the stupidity of blackface.  God this push this week to remove these particular episodes are dumb as fuck.

“On a less progressive note, there’s no getting past the overwhelming whiteness of the interview subjects”

Yeah, I guess it was shortsighted for them to only interview people *actually* involved. Maybe instead they should’ve pretended that some of the victims were POC so that they could be more balanced?

JFC, it’s god

Watched this last night. It was an okay movie. Like most of Apatow’s work it could have used another pass on the script and a fresh set of eyes in the edit bay.

Meanwhile “Norm Lear did it in one of his explicitly politically charged sitcoms, and teen melodramas were doing it” seems like a false equivalence to me.

I didn’t care for Mr Davidson’s character but there’s some funny dialogue and the supporting cast were great . Bill Burr in particular was given quite a substantial role and acquitted himself well.

Everybody’s biting Roger Ebert:

This review further solidifies my opinion that Pete Davidson’s career relies 95% on pity.

It worked for Rise of Skywalker.

That’s called “nuance” and it’s been dead for years.

Meh, guy always sounded like an actor reading lines.

They absolutely have to point out that they disapprove of this person, or else we’ll think they approve of this person!

I think its badness is really overstated just because it’s Pixar.

Of all the TV shows on today who will do a COVID episode, Always Sunny is top of the list.  I want Frank robbing houses for toilet paper and useless drugs and constant mask arguments damn it!

Maybe if it were a 60 minute not a 30 minute show they would have had time to do a decent job - felt like it was rushed and not a lot of thought put into anything - the lesbian story line was totally unnecessarily, but that seems to be a requirement of ANY show on TV today and like many moms out there, I could not

Boo. This show was so horny and sexy and I loved the idea of the train, and like people here are saying, it had a lot of potential to just be an exploration of people stuck in their lives and trying to explore something that maybe wasn’t worth it or didn’t exist. To me, it felt like a “what happens after the end of

Hell, the show didn’t know how it felt about Billy. Or about Ruby for that matter.

I also love this movie so much. I will say though...if this is your first time watching Death Proof, try and get your hands on the theatrical version. The version that was released on DVD (and the version that is streamable as far as I know), contains way extra footage which I personally find ineffective.

You’re insane if you believe that. For starters, the series finale is pretty perfect: the speed-cocktail episode is also great. And my sweet, sweet Lane comes to mind as well

2/20/19.  Just finished binging the living hell out of this series. What started off as a fairly standard if fun procedural with a novel hook turned into absolutely one of my favorite shows. That last episode just wrecked me.  So yes, some of us are just now discovering it, and thank you for your reviews. =)
