@bonedog73: You just tap the FaceTime button on the Phone screen.

At first I was going to praise you, Mr. Diaz, for having the guts to edit (strike out) out this line: "Gdgt editor Ryan Block didn't even try to scratch his, but he got a scratch anyway in normal daily use," but then I realized you did not have the courage to actually replace it with the information that the iPhone

@stabbytheicepic: What Appple called "chemically strengthened alkali-aluminosilicate" glass is, in fact, Corning's Gorilla Glass.

@atrus123: Hint: Android Marketplace pay out to developers so far = $21 million; Apple App Store payout to developers so far = $1 billion.

I think it's amusing how every other media outlet reported that the show was recorded using an Apple MacBook, but Gizmodo couldn't bring itself to calling it anything but a "laptop."

"Doing more math, such numbers imply that Apple has pocketed $428 million."

@daftrok: 3) Free apps with no advertising?

@Benedinho: To "delay" means to postpone something that was scheduled or promised for an earlier date. There's no 'delay' involved here; they just keep selling out of iPhones that were produced in time for the earlier dates, so new orders will require more time to fulfill.

Jesus, get a grip on it! They sold out of the June 24th iPhones. The next batch was for July 2nd. They sold out of those, so now the delivery date is July 14th. That's what selling out means. Where the hell do you get this "delayed" from? Look up the word definition. Goizmodo's, and especially yours Jesus, headlines

@Gigglebox: There's "controversy" over Apple's claim only if you believe the one and only scientist that based his calculations on super-perfect (i.e., 20/10) vision, rather than the normal good vision standard of 20/20.

@HK-47: Unlike computer monitors or TV sets, on a phone you are not looking directly at the LCD, matt or gloss coated. Phones have a protective glass (or plastic). Matt-finish coating is more diffractive. And yes, you are correct that in direct sunlight, at just the right angle, glossy finish makes the screen

@HK-47: Feel better for having vented?

@Ultraorange: Sorry, but you're missing my 'engineering' point. I guess I wasn't clear. Laminated glass is far stronger than a single layer glass, even if of the same total thickness. What I see on the photo is a single-layer of broken glass, not a laminated sandwich of glass+screen (i.e., substantially weaker than

One of the technical advances of the Retinal display is that the cover glass is laminated to the LCD screen (no air gap), which effectively unites them into a sandwiched structure. As any engineer can tell you, that's one of the best ways of increasing a material's strength.

Here's a twist on the installation questions... I already have Parallels installed with Windows XP in it's virtual partition. To re-install per Gina's combination Boot Camp / Parallels method, do I need to completely uninstall everything first? Including calling Microsoft to "de-authorized" my copy of Windows XP from
