I also bought one of the cheapest Range Rovers I could find— for $3000. It didn’t run and it leaked oil profusely until I did a top-end rebuild of the engine. Hardly a pristine example. Once I fixed it the Range Rover was quite reliable, believe it or not.

I never expected to buy or even like one but they’re actually genuinely good and fun cars. It’s very hard to beat the value for money of them, especially used.

I always chuckle at the logic behind putting 20" wheels on a car that’s supposedly meant for off-roading. I guess they know that the worst these cars will ever deal with in the real world is a bit of snow or maybe a stretch of bad pavement here and there.
