If you owned an 02 ACR and were in it for less than $28k there is no way I’d call that a mistake.

I’ve seen Dashboard Lights ... but not in my Fusion because it has been great.

Think about what the statement in my OP actually means though - let’s review:

“There is no way that a Japanese car would have been cheaper to keep on the road.”

A key takeaway here is how long the OWNER keeps the car, not how long the CAR stays on the road. Perhaps its a cultural things...if your boring and only want to shop for a car every 20 years, then get a Toyota or Honda. If you want some actual style in your life, perhaps look at other brands.

Capitalism is killing the car industry? Capitalism created the car industry and all the other industries including Jalopnik and the device you’re using to read this. If an industry is not profitable then it should die, that’s exactly what capitalism is. It kills what there isn’t a demamd for and that’s good. A better

Speed does NOT kill. This is a myth promulgated by the insurance industry to line their own pockets and the mommies because they know everything.

The Ford Flex gets way too much love on this site. It looks like shit, and it’s not a good car by any metric. Its only redeeming quality is being a ‘wagon’ in a market undersaturated with wagons, but nobody’s going to pay $13k for this example of the species.

The union at my workplace very effectively fucks the company’s bottom line through protecting incompetence at the expense of their competent union brethren.

unions were partially responsible for the existence of the middle class

Truck Yeah is filled full of people who don’t actually like trucks unless they are 10 year old compact trucks used for only off-roading.

It seems like every truck and SUV article comment section typically gets bombarded with people saying that it’s stupid and wrong to want to drive anything that isn’t electric or doesn’t get 30+ mpg. When did Jalopnik turn into a Nissan Leaf forum?

This constant emphasis on safety is taking all the fun out of cars.

I’m speechless, but with 36,895 comments, I haven’t always been speechless.  This post is the best prize ever!  Thanks so much, Andrew!

Go inside and wait for the person in front of you in line to have a conversation with the cashier before having them find the most obscure pack of cigarettes and an assortment of lotto tickets before taking 5 minutes to find the 3 pennies they need to make exact change?

No, no it doesn’t. It’s still a terrible movie. There are no characters, just over-the-top caricatures to serve Cameron’s eco messaging. And the lead character is in a wheelchair because of a spinal injury. They don’t have the technology to fix his back, but they CAN clone and grow an alien life form, then insert a

I think the big news is that Lexus is still selling vehicles with a panel gap you could put your hand through.... seriously, WTF guys!

Affordable college education disappeared because of federal student loans. The government made a pile of money available so schools raised prices to the limits of what people would borrow. With that they added staff, built buildings, etc and so on. Now there’s a lot of people dependent on that flow of money so we

I’m not sure why this statement has become so controversial over the last few years. Yes, I’m sorry but your art history degree will not give you the same opportunities as a computer science major. It’s not discrimination, it’s just supply and demand. Just because you spent the same amount of money and are in the same

BA in Human Resources is a pretty common major, I have no idea what you’re talking about.

“Regardless, it’s worth juxtaposing the mere assertion to the rights Americans apparently do not have:...an affordable education...”

If employees can choose when and where to work they are contractors.
