I can’t speak for others but yeah, I’d never cross shop a Genesis. There’s just such a small price difference why wouldn’t you get the one that you want? I also just don’t feel the Genesis is a very compelling package and despite what the article states is not good looking. I’m not opposed to the brand in general but

Similar story here, I’ve had my 2004 350z Roadster for 12 years. Bulletproof car that has been driven hard. Leaks a little oil and the clutch has had to be replaced once in 150k miles. I’ve thought about selling it but they’re so cheap I keep it as a fun weekend car. Analog, enough power to have fun, and as you said,

This. I came to post it myself but happier to star yours - no one sees my posts anyway because I’m in the grays. Come to think of it I’ve been posting here for years, when/how does one even get out of the grays?

Why does no one on Jalopnik ever mention Jaguars? You can get a 2012 or 2013 XFR for under $25k and it has 510 horsepower. This would put the Jag right in the hp pack with the others but it would also be the newest car on the list. I don’t know all of the acceleration times off hand but likely also one of the fastest.

There are some ugly Mercs out there but across the brand I don’t think they are on average any worse than other manufacturers these days. I think the E and S class coupes are actually pretty good looking.

That’s a little harsh, I’m pretty sure Tom Cruise has been in other movies.

A 401k is basically just an investment account that you can contribute to pre tax and that then grows tax free (with restrictions on how much you can put in on a yearly basis and when you can pull it out). You can choose to invest the money into whatever you like (assuming that option is available through whatever

Honest question- which current Acuras are you talking about? I haven’t driven any of the recent lineup but they look pretty dreary.

I agree. I saw one the other day in person, and although I was really excited by the pictures, wasn’t blown away by it in the flesh. In traffic it just kind of blended in a bit too much, oddly more so than the C7 does. It somehow looks too big, not sure how else to describe it.

Not sure what being publicly traded has to do with it. Many really old companies are still privately owned and other companies go the IPO route relatively earlier. In terms of automobile manufacturers Tesla is by comparison a baby.

I prefer the 8 series pic over the current car. Of course I prefer just about everything on the old one.

If no one had told me what it was I would have thought TVR. If you think TVR it kind of makes sense. They’re not pretty cars but have their own odd signature style and are RWD unruly monsters with questionable build quality - which I would assume fits this to a T.

This is such a great analogy. I cannot remember a time I have gotten in the back seat of a car behind the passenger (I’m fairly tall) where they have not asked me if I’d like them to move the seat up. The difference is that I get in cars with people I know and get on planes with strangers. Do we really need to treat

That and the ability to do a bunch of Irish car bombs apparently.

Yeah but what happens when Driver 3 (the machine) causes a really serious accident? Sure, they’re on your insurance policy which say covers 500k of liability but you get sued for 800k. Who picks up that difference? Should it be you or the company that built the software?

Your trip was 60 minutes long. Autopilot took care of 59 minutes and then decided to hand you back control for the last minute, during which you careened into the retaining wall. You have now arrived.

I agree on the ‘12 XF, although mine has the supercharged V8. Great car and I greatly prefer the interior to the new ones (I also like the exterior better too). Black over London Tan mmmm

I think one of the things everyone is missing in the valuation is data. Why is Facebook valued so highly? They don’t make anything but they collect a huge amount of data on users that can be used for various purposes like marketing. As we make a move to autonomous cars, or attempt to, Tesla’s data will have value

I agree on this generation of Camry. It really is the best looking one to wear that badge and an all round handsome car, if totally uninteresting in every way. I do disagree with your assessment of the MKIV and particularly your gripe about the long hood. Long hoods are one of the cornerstones of the best looking cars

I do find it strange how anti fun car and just anti car Jalopnik is sometimes. I’m in for celebrating electric cars. I don’t think we should all rip off our catalytic converters or roll coal - pollution for the sake of it isn’t cool. I do however think there should be a place to still celebrate the automobile and ICE
