I was just having the same thought! My sister had a late 80s Cutlass in high school and I'm pretty sure the ash tray was the only part of the interior that wasn't some cheap shitty plastic.

The discussion of this thing's off road chops makes me giggle.

¼ cup butter, softened

I really like the overall shape of this car, but why does every automaker for the last 5 years think they have to make some kind of design statement with the goddamn C/D-pillars? Just continue the cohesive design of the rest of the vehicle. I’ve never seen a weird scooped out section of window (looking at you

It would definitely be more unique. If they can’t pull off attractive, I guess that at least counts for something.

Nope.

My point was more that "Crossovers are bad!" is a take that's been pounded to a meaty pulp on this particular site. I agree with a lot of what you're saying and am all for diversity of choice. I just also understand/accept that manufacturers are going to make more of what sells more and again, I think "all crossovers

They suck so bad at everything, why settle for mediocrity?”

What do you think they will lose popularity in favor of? It seems to me that the rise of the CUV is due in large part to people wanting to feel safer (whether they in fact are or not, people feel less dwarfed) in the vicinity of all of the large trucks on the road, while not wanting to sacrifice the efficiency and

And yes, I say this as the guy who has moaned about the word “coupe” being used to describe vehicles with more than two doors on multiple occasions. Some hills are worth dying on.

Crossovers and SUVs exist:

It may have more of the “vertical” appearance usually expected of trucks, but it’s still ugly. The first Ridgeline had the best front end in terms of “looking like a truck” but was unfortunately still ugly. The steeply raked A-pillars have never helped their case either.

I’d say it’s definitely an attempt to keep from riling people up. Some would be mad it’s a “luxury vehicle” and some would be mad they didn’t buy American. I think it was the right call, although I’m sure some articles will pop up stoking outrage: “Postal Service Hiding Egregious Spending on Foreign Luxury

This must mean that Ford is having range and/or performance anxiety over its recently-teased and all-new all-electric F-150 pickup.”

“something fun but otherwise uninspiring, like a...FD RX-7"

I can’t help but think that the continued ubiquity of racism, gender bias, wealth inequality, and a few other issues may also contribute.

It doesn’t bother me that much for one reason, and it’s a reason I hadn’t even realized before I saw the comparison. The original Peter Parker looks like he’s about 35 when he’s supposed to be 23 in the game.

I’m not normally one to try to tell other people what they “need”, but in this situation I believe that having the facts constantly laid bare with not a moment’s worth of reprieve from the crushing reality that is our current political system IS what America needs. I think we’ve shown time and time again over the past

That square back end. Woof.

Dear Jalopnik,
