I wouldn't say it was a let down.
Season 4 was some of the best television ever.
Season 5 was still great, though. Don't forget the prequel shorts too!

The UCB show was classic. Ass Pennies, the Bucket of Truth, Minimalist Architecture, self defense on a stick, etc.
I've been a fan of hers ever since.

If 'The Wire' is on your list, go for it. It's only five seasons.
The Shield, Justified, The Soprano's, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, and Breaking Bad are required viewing.
Finishing Deadwood and Six Feet Under are next for me.

Go for season 3, and skip 2.
