It’s really unfortunate but these kinds of stories have given me the lowest expectations of how your average joe white guy will treat me that if they are actually nice to me to my face it’s surprising to me. Wow, that sounds really kinda scary. I’m glad it turned out okay, and I kinda see it this way- if you helped even one guy to understand consent, hopefully that makes it worth it. I’m so glad you do workshops like this though, they are so needed!

Agreed though I wouldn’t wish these bastards on any community college —some of which are fine places of ethical standards and solid education.

The whole purpose of frats is to create a network of cronies so that one can only fail upwards thru life.

I’ve given dozens of consent workshops and presentations to thousands of people, and the most tense and, frankly, scary one I did was in a frat. The only woman in a full frat house mandated by their president* to take a consent workshop.

I went to Cornell, and with every story like this — on top of lived experience — it becomes clearer that we need to ban Greek life to improve college life.

Or just kick them out and let them find a new college. It shouldn’t be tolerated anywhere, in particular Ivy League schools. It just validates that it’s “not cool and looked down upon”, but still let’s these young men off with a slap on the wrist. So these types of “shenanigans” aren’t really all that bad, right?

I would suggest that any person participating in these sort of shenanigans does not deserve to be situated in a finer place of learning. Require them to start over, do the last part of high school again, some community college and then reapply to Cornell. Preliminary re-education seems to be the best way to deal with…
