Next up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

I cracked up at that joke in the first Austin Powers:

His voice actor is a rude and petty asshole with a history of berating critics and fans, so maybe he's too difficult to work with to use very often.

"this wasn't gore in a visceral and disgusting way; it was almost cartoonish."

In context my statement makes sense. You're purposely ignoring most of what I said to fixate on one word.

I mean, you're being literal on purpose to misconstrue my meaning.

No regrets.

There's your DVD box set quote— "I can't believe this is the 'Jizz in My Pants' guy!"

10 Things I Hate About You is super quotable. I like to use "Run, Bogey!" whenever someone does something obviously stupid that backfires.

Poor bastard, his name even looks like "Joey Fat One".

Andre Braugher was great in his spot on Homocide, the obscure Eminem album from about a decade ago that was never released.

Well, he did push Rick to make a roofie potion, because he's a little creep.

Geez, it sounds like you work with a bunch of psychos. What is "real world" about watching gruesome things happening to people thousands of miles away? Tell them to go sign up for the Army or some shit if they want some non-pussy killing to be part of their lives.

Ha, no worries. I've only seen a little bit of the show, but the web shorts are fantastic (don't miss the "America Now" ones, either). Neely always has the right turn of phrase and packs so many jokes into each frame.

I think your second part is very important— Rick understands the universe is vast and that one person (or two people) can't go around trying to fix it— it's not only impossible but it smacks of hubris, for many reasons. You can't always control the outcome, so in some cases, the right thing is to not get involved.

It does? I think the web shorts are brilliant and hilarious. I'd highly recommend them.

I love, love, love the web shorts, but whenever I tried to watch the Adult Swim version, it felt weird and tonally off.

I think it's more complex than that. I wouldn't really say the show has a "bad guy."

Yeah, this wasn't gore in a visceral and disgusting way; it was almost cartoonish. (The scientist gouging Rick's eyes in "The Ricks Must Be Crazy" was way more gross to watch.)

Well, if we're really going back, first it was Morty Cronenberging a whole planet…
