I’ve caught heat from Depp worshippers for saying that they both seem like shite people. Abuse is bad, nobody should be abusive, and they both seem abusive. Even if you want to argue that Heard is also abusive, that doesn't absolve him of being a shithead as well.

It's barbaric, but you'd be hard pressed to find a lot of South Carolinians objecting to this outcome. The case also underscores how messed up our justice system really is. I grew up in SC with a kid who murdered his wife and a gambling partner, yet the prosecutor in his case didn't even try to go for the death

I'm originally from SC and I live in Wisconsin, so between Lindsey Graham and Ron Johnson, I shamefully co-sign with you both

Don’t leave out the worst part of the quote:

Not sure. I guess I look at it like this: people who are in this line of business tend to know what they're talking about, so if they're talking about 7.5 mil, then I'm inclined to believe that figure

I couldn't agree more. I mean, I understand how a rare baseball card is worth a pretty penny, and interest in Marilyn Monroe makes her dress valuable (even if I don't particularly care about either), but her collection literally chronicles the existence of black America for almost three hundred years.

FWIW, the NYT has a longer story about her in its Good Reads. Incredibly interesting. Worth noting: her collection may be worth as much as 7.5 million dollars.

This person has gone as far as allegedly hiring a lawyer and greasing the wheels for a lawsuit, which is stupid as fuck. I believe the tactic is referred to as paper terrorism. I’m not sure if I read about it here or elsewhere, but the idea is to clog up the works and intimidate through litigation.

In one fell swoop, I listened to a mother in our district invoke the Nuremberg defense, civil rights violations, and CRT. You have to do some serious work to weave all of that together

Our school district dropped mask requirements last Monday. The community engagement at school board meetings was batshit crazy. Our board was going to drop the requirements anyway, and now these nuts think their insanity actually made the change happen

Sure, he might get punished by the law for this crime, but I'm really looking forward to the possibility that he'll absolutely get his shit rocked in the near future by a dude built like a D1 defensive tackle. At the very least, he deserves the Richard Spencer treatment

Fucking monsters

He really did.

The work that he and Don Cheadle did together was fantastic.

No, but I'm going to have to check it out. Broad City is great.

Like, you couldn't even make that up if you tried.

It's really fucking fun.

For anyone so inclined, there's an informative piece in the NYT about how so many districts have been gerrymandered to hell and back just to ensure that the races aren't competitive. Anything to disenfranchise and maintain status quo

Money quote right here: " . . . disingenuous commitment to social equity.” Even your run of the mill racists are going to have to acknowledge that this is undeniably true.

Don't joke. Margaritaville has some rough characters
