Pommes et Pomme de terre?
Why, you ask? Because your ability to hear anything is diminished when one or both ears are isolated with music blasting directly into the ear canal! Other vehicles, animals, people, emergency vehicles etc... may not be heard, leading to an increased potential for an accident or injury. Most people are alerted of an…
Trust me on this one; this is a law that exists for a very good reason.
Michigan No-Fault Insurance
The obvious answer is: vehicle property taxes/ mandatory jail time COUGH PATRICK COUGH
Counterpoint: if it’s raining hard enough to turn on your wipers, sure would be nice if I could also see you/your lights. I don’t think this is a stupid law at all. Lack of enforcement, perhaps, is stupid.
Right. But I think he’s speaking more toward the crash sensor registering the hit, realizing the engine isn’t running, isn’t moving, hasn’t moved in the past...5 minutes(?), and not deploying the airbag.
If you hit the crash sensor with a hammer, it will see, say 30Gs and think it’s being crashed in to
My windshield wipers are dull so I moved to Syria.
Why is Jalopnik paying attention to this nitwit?
I know bloggers need to be topical but...this is a stretch guys. Take it back to the drawing board.
What is this thing and I why have I not heard about it until now?
You sir are not an engineer are you? these things will in all likely hood be rated for 200+MPH debris WITH a safety factor... usually in Aerospace we use 3:1, ive seen climbing hooks use 10:1.
What makes you say this? A plane window can deflect a large bird but this couldn’t be made to stop a 5lb spring at similar speeds? Even if it broke and the spring went through it, don’t you think you’d rather hit a spring with your helmet at 60-100 rather than 180? Foolish thinking.
We get it. Gawker’s office or whatever its called now is in NYC. You guys work in NYC and of course take the subway. We’re aware that the subway is broken because there’s probably 2-3 stories a week about it here. So again... we get it. The NYC subway is broken. Point made. NYC isn’t the only city in the country.
Look at the angle, that would absolutely deflect a spring at 180mph. It transfers the energy up and moves the object above the blunt face of the driver’s helmet.
It’d hurt like hell, sure, but most of the energy remains in the object, not the driver’s skull.
Meaning they’re assuming the value of the car at the end of the lease to be higher than it likely will actually be?
You can typically “buy” more mileage at a discounted rate, at the beginning of the lease.
