I think the N74 is a shoe in as the top of the range. It can’t be an 8 Series without a v12 right?I suspect the TT 4.4L V8 as the base motor, I don’t see anything revolutionary coming down the pipe. I bet they offer a low capacity hybrid version to milk the west coast elite out of another $25k to look green like the

I think you’re confused to what the 8 series is/was. It was a hulking GT power cruiser. The 850s were not fast, they’re quick but not blistering (I own a 750il E38)

The 8 was all the comfort of a 7 without the need to carry more than 2 in a more beautiful/exotic package.

But it looked different than anything in the BMW lineup. Show someone this and a 6 and they’re hard to tell apart.

You got water on my supercar!

Have you tracked a car that’s say 2600 lbs, or even better something sub 2000 lbs? The difference is clear as day. If I’m going to be spending my money on a track rat the nimbler the starting point the better.

It’s not actually always the same density. The alloying elements do play a small role in influencing the density of the steel. Hell even the microstructure or work hardening (stress induced transformation to martensite) will change the density.

Better textbooks with give you the range of 7.75 - 8.05 g/cm3

Power under the curve my friend. I’m confident that the EV would stomp the ICE in anything but top end speed.

I’m a metallurgist, your BS is making my head hurt.

Secondly it’s 3600 lbs, it’s a porker on the track

I’ve driven 2 of these. I wanted to love them but the specs on paper don’t translate to the driving experience. Honestly the best SMART they’ve produced is the SMART EV. It has more power and better handling than the ICE versions.

Wayyyy too heavy for a weekend track car.

Let that 16 valve sing!

What year is your BMW?

When you get to more premium cars the look plays a role. That’s not the case on a Focus.

They exist for NVH reasons. NVH rules everything, you know this.

If you look at actual transaction price I bet a Nissan Titan with the 5.6 gasser is better hp/dollar. On my XD I got 5k off the top before negotiating.

It’s 390 hp on 87..but knowing Nissan if you throw premium at it I bet you’re at 400-410 easy.

Assuming you get one for $23,000 (looking at cars.com) that’s $59 dollar

RIP toes.

Are you actually this dense?

Snow tires do not have the same speed rating as summer tires. If you run winter tires at higher speeds than they’re rated they will explode. They can’t deal with the heat.

It’s a safety feature you dingus. Equipment has limitations, respect them.

The warning is for when you’re on snow tires that don’t have the same speed rating as your summers. It’s programmable by the driver.

You were just doing it wrong. AKA RTFM.

Could be made.

You don’t understand this car. It’s about the feeling, the sound and the look.

Is it a proper race car? No, and it does not matter. It’s not about beating a Tesla.

The experience is completely different. It’s a stoplight to stoplight car with a few superlatives thrown in plus a factory warranty .

Working class wealth, that’s how they do it.

Saving money to invest is hard, it’s easy to buy cars/motorcycles on credit.
